Summer & Fall Happenings with Green Thumb Garden Club

The end of summer is rapidly approaching as we look forward to the beautiful, cooler Fall season in our area. Green Thumb Garden Club is excited to announce details for member meetings and events in the next several months.

GTGC is growing their Club with a special gathering. “Hawaii on the Emerald Coast” Membership Recruitment Event, is on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at Westwinds Conference Center. There is no charge for the event; however, registration is required and limited to residents at least 21 years old. Walk-ins are not permitted. The first 2026/2027 member meeting is on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at Westwinds Conference Center. Master Gardener, Barbara Young, will present “Landscaping with Ferns and Shade Gardening”. Barbara is a long-time member of GTGC and is always willing to share her horticultural expertise and guidance.

Florida Federation of Garden Clubs, District 1 Fall meeting is being hosted by Destin Garden Club on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at First Baptist Church in Fort Walton Beach. The meeting theme is America 250. Additional details will be on the Green Thumb Garden Club website in late August.

Gifts of beautiful plants are gratefully received during the holiday season. October’s member meeting will educate attendees on holiday plant survival to extend the life of these precious gifts. The members-only pre-sale leading up to the annual Holiday Bazaar will also happen at the October 21, 2026 meeting, Westwinds Conference Center.

GTGC’s largest scholarship fundraiser, the annual Holiday Bazaar, is on November 14, 2025, at Cantina Laredo Grand Boulevard. The sixth annual Bazaar hours are 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Past year’s events sold out — save the date and come early for the best selection.

Green Thumb will have a golf cart (or two) in the Hometown Holiday Parade in Grand Boulevard, Miramar Beach, FL, on Friday, November 20, 2026, 5:00 pm.

For the first time, GTGC will have a tree in the Festival of Trees, Grand Park in Grand Boulevard, November 27 through December 25, 2026. More details to follow.
